Medical King is aware of one death from entrapment in November 2023.
Hazard: When the recalled bed rails are attached to an adult’s bed, users can become entrapped within the bed rail or between the bed rail and the side of the mattress. This poses a serious entrapment hazard and risk of death by asphyxiation.
Remedy: Repair, Replace
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bed rails and contact Medical King to receive a free repair kit or a replacement bed rail, depending on the model.

All Medical King Bed Assist Rail adult portable bed rails (model nos. 7007, 7037, and 7057) sold from January 2020 to March 2024 are included in this voluntary recall. All units were sold online. The easiest way to determine if your unit is affected is by going to your purchase history where you purchased it and downloading the receipt. Your repair kit (7007, 7057) will include a new upper foam-covered handle grip and a new cross bar with a permanently attached mattress strap. The strap will help affix the bed assist rail securely to the side of the bed with no potential gaps.
You will need to remove your existing foam-covered handle grip and cross bar by following the included instructions. To disengage the current parts, you will press down on the spring-loaded buttons and you will follow the same steps to reengage the new pieces.
Owners of the smaller bed assist rail (7037) without legs that are supported on the floor will receive a new unit. The new unit will have a redesigned upper foam-covered handle grip and a permanently attached mattress strap to affix the bed assist rail securely to the side of the bed with no potential gaps.
Please stop using your bed assist rail and register right away for the recall. We understand this is a huge inconvenience. The sooner you register, the more quickly we can ship out the repair parts for quick repair.

Once you successfully submit your recall registration, you will receive an email confirmation. We will then will ship your free repair kit within 1-2 business days. Your repair kit will ship from New Jersey via UPS ground, which can take between 1-5 days depending on your location.
